Relay Iowa
Relay Iowa ensures that individuals who are deaf, deaf-blind, hard of hearing or have difficulty speaking can communicate over the phone quickly, accurately and confidently. Whether you’re reaching out to family, friends or businesses, Relay Iowa makes every conversation easier.
How it works:
- Services Offered: TTY, Voice Carry Over (VCO), Hearing Carry Over (HCO), Speech-to-Speech (STS), Spanish or Captioned Telephone
- Connect Easily: Dial 711 to reach a trained Communication Assistant (CA)
- Conversation Relay: The CA will voice typed messages from a TTY user and type spoken words back, keeping the conversation clear and accurate
- Confidential: All calls are held strictly confidential

Minnesota Relay
Minnesota Relay is a free, federally mandated Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) that ensures individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have speech disabilities can communicate over the phone at no cost to the user.
How it works:
- Trained Communication Assistants (CAs): Facilitate conversations between callers and the person they are calling
- Available 24/7: Make calls anywhere in the world (standard long-distance charges may apply)
- Administered by TAM: Managed by Telecommunications Access Minnesota (TAM), funded through a monthly surcharge on each wired and wireless phone access line in the state and provided under contract by Communication Service for the Deaf
- Confidential: All calls are held strictly confidential
