WCTA Email FAQs
I can’t log in – how do I reset my email password?
If you don’t know your password, you will need to call WCTA Technical support at 1-877-928-2835 to have it reset. If you know your password and just want to change it, you can do so at this link.
💡Helpful Tip: Using a password manager can make managing your passwords easier.
Can I use a password manager?
Yes! A password manager can help you store, manage and update your email password easily.
Note: When you create a new password in the manager, you’ll need to know your current password first. After that, the manager keeps it safe, so you don’t have to remember it every time.
I’m not receiving emails – what should I check first?
- Is your inbox full?
- Log in to webmail to check how much space you have.
- If your mailbox is nearly full, delete some messages to free up space and make room for new ones.
- Check your spam, junk or trash folders in your email client. Some emails may have been sorted there automatically.
- Check the eScout spam filter.
- Log in with your email credentials here to see quarantined messages.
- Still not receiving emails and can’t log in? Your account may have been compromised and the password reset automatically. Contact WCTA technical support 1-877-928-2835 for help with resetting your password.
How can I delete multiple emails at once?
In Webmail (like many other platforms), you can select and delete several emails at the same time using some keyboard variations.
To select a group of emails in a row:
- Click once on the first email you want to delete.
- Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard.
- While holding SHIFT, click on the last email in the group.
This will highlight (and select) every message between those two emails.
💡Helpful Tip: Hold down the CONTROL (CTRL) key to (un)select emails without losing your previous selections.
To select all emails at once:
- Press CONTROL (CTRL) + A on your keyboard. This will select every message in your inbox.
Using the “Select” Menu (No Keyboard Needed)
At the bottom of the message window, there is a “Select” menu.
Clicking it allows you to choose:
- All messages
- Only messages visible on the current page
- Unread messages
- Flagged messages
You can also:
- Invert your selection (select everything you didn’t select before)
- Clear selections entirely
💡Helpful Tip: Use Search first. If you want to delete emails from a certain sender (for example, advertisements or newsletters):
- Use the Search
- Type the sender’s name or a word from the subject line.
- Once those emails appear, use the methods above to select and delete them in batches.
Note: If your mailbox is full, a regular Delete may not work properly. Normally, clicking Delete only moves emails from your Inbox to your Trash folder. If there isn’t enough free space, this process can fail.
To permanently remove emails from your Inbox and free up space:
- Hold down the SHIFT key
- Press the Delete key on your keyboard
This performs a permanent delete instead of moving messages to the Trash.
I’m setting up mail settings on a new device – should I use IMAP or POP?
We recommend that you use an IMAP setting. IMAP keeps all your devices synchronized with the mail server. This means you will have a copy of all your messages stored on the server and deleting a message on one device will delete it everywhere.
POP should only be considered if you frequently receive large attachments (like multiple photos) that you need to retain but be aware it can quickly exhaust your mailbox quota.
How can I spot a phishing or suspicious email?
Here’s common red flags:
- Urgent or Threatening Language: Scammers will often try to panic you into acting without thinking. Look for phrases like “Account suspended,” “Immediate action required” or threats of legal action.
- Mismatched Sender Addresses: The sender’s name might look legitimate, but their actual email address is often slightly off. For example, instead of support@amazon.com, it might be support@amazon-security.ru or have subtle misspellings like amaz0n.com. In some instances, you may need to hover your mouse over the sender’s name to reveal the full email address.
- Suspicious Links and Attachments: Hover your mouse over any link without clicking to see the actual destination URL. If the pop-up address doesn’t match the link text or the company’s official domain, do not click it. Be especially wary of unexpected attachments like invoices or documents you didn’t request.
- Requests for Sensitive Information: Legitimate businesses, including WCTA, will never ask for passwords, credit card numbers or Social Security numbers via email.
- Too-Good-To-Be-True Offers: Unexpected prizes, free gift cards or massive refunds are common lures used to get you to click malicious links.
💡Helpful Tip: If an email seems suspicious, do not use any contact information provided in the message. Instead, go directly to the company’s official website or use a verified phone number to contact them. If it is not legitimate, delete the email and do not reply or click any links, even the “unsubscribe” link can be malicious.
